OFFSHORE INSTALLATION

Red Rooster are able to design and supply special solutions for particular problems. The photograph shows four 17.5 tonne pneumatic chain hoists and trolleys being used for the installation of a 35 tonne gas compressor on a North Sea Oil Platform. The lifting system was conceived, designed, and manufactured in - house, and included a central control console for the synchronous operation of all four hoists. The system also included electronic load cells built into the hoists, for the monitoring of the load on each hoist. The load indicators were built onto the control console. The major problems that had to be overcome were the limited amount of room that was available for installing the hoists, and ensuring that the lifting operation was balanced and controlled at all times.
